Review of The Boxing Club

I joined The Boxing Club last year and I found it to be dirty, overcrowded and overpriced. But the worst was when I tried to quit, they just kept charging my credit card. After numerous phone calls and several months they're still charging me $109/month. Every time I call it's like they've never heard from me before. They say sorry, our policy is no refunds, but we'll cancel your membership now, and the next month they just charge me again. I was so mad I made a website, www.boxingclubsucks.com

Why is it that the only way you could cancel your membership is if you move? Why cant you just cancel because they SUCK??I havent even gone to this place for a month and they are charging me $229 to cancel plus the last month of $79.. When others were only charged $29 to cancel. They definetly pull these amounts out of their asses. DO NOT JOIN this place the reason why they make it hard to cancel is because NO ONE goes here(they desparetly need the money) Ive never seen any gym so DEAD..the classes are at times that no one could make it thats why its free with membership. How do you get this place to beclosed down?? everyone should make a complaaint to the BBB. MANAGEMENT SUCKS!!

(continued)The last lady I spoke to told me to sell the membership on craigslist and that I can only transfer 5 months for an additional $100 transfer fee and that I could charge whatever I felt like. I was aghast when she suggested this idea to me. Instead of returning my money, they said I should go cheat somebody else!

This company is very dishonest. I was a member for a 6months and I re-signed a new contract for a year after the salesperson sweet talked me into a good deal. The problem was that I had to move to LA county within a month of signing the new contract. I was told 'we need proof of your move in order to cancel". Okay I don't have any utility bills (since i haven't moved yet), the only thing that I had my was my drivers insurance with the new address (policy change, I had to inform them of the move, hence the new card) The management at the club said, that's fine, you should get your refund in 6 - 8 weeks. Fine. 2 months later no refund. I call and ask, whats going on with the refund? The answer I got, its being processed. 4 months have passed. I still the get the same answer. 6 months have passed. The manager tells me my file slipped through the cracks and they will have it processed immediately. Okay fine. 10 months have passed. I receive an email from the corporate office by mistake which had their corporate number listed with an extension number. The Carlsbad facility would not give me the corporate number despite asking for it numerous times. I call them up and asked them what happened. The reply I get, insurance is not a good proof they need utility bills. I live with a roommate and the bills are in her name. I explained to them, look I don't have utility bills there are other ways you can establish the home address: drivers license, tax forms, bank statements. She said fine, drivers license will do. I said okay sent that over. A month later I get a call from another lady saying that's insufficient. I kindly explained to her look I don't have utilities in my name, she refused to cooperate and said only utility bills and no cell phone bills (who has a landline these days??!?). Okay fine, I call my electricity company up, change the name, and got the bill in my name and sent that over. Now its been a year since I have canceled and I still have to hear back from them. I have called/emailed them and nobody answers.Don't get a membership at this place, especially the Carlsbad location. The people are dishonest and uncooperative.

The Carlsbad branch has loud music and their only goal ,is to sell, sell, sell. I signed a Personal Training contract believing it was for $60, as I was told by the local manager without realizing that I was actually charged in advance for 20 sessions, $1200 total. When I asked for a refund they refused; during the dispute (still ongoing), they lied to me, did not respond to my letters and phone calls, forged my initials on the two contracts, the CEO, Steven Wade lied in Small Claims Court by testifying that the Personal Training Contract cannot be obtained WITHOUT a Membership Contract (they do sell them separately, in violation of the California Civil Code), promised a free Membership Contract but never delivered on the promise, ignored my letters showing that I cannot fulfill the contract due to valid, physician verified health issues, threatened me with costly law suits, tried to silence me when I started going public on ripoffreports.com (they will see MANY more complaints from me) and tried to run the clock out on my contracts; in short, their contracts are in violation of the California Health Studio Services Act and their Customer Relations practices are awful; I thus urge ANYONE who has had money disputes (such as Greg S, San Diego, Ca) to get in touch with me in order to make The Boxing Club understand that they are NOT above the law and, as a minimum, they should follow the refund practices as prescribed by the law and, by now, as followed by most Gyms,Sarah A, Fallbrook, Ca 760-731-9577

I completely agree with everything here. Classes are crowded and inadequate warmup, which amounts to poor training. And, they are a total rip off. Your contract period ends and they keep on charging you! Then when you complain, it takes another 6 months for them to stop charging you. I filed a complaint with the BBB.

These guys charge an arm and a leg and try to say they have pilates and yoga classes. There are maybe 2 yoga classes on their schedules, and they are only at times that you cant get to them. They charge premium prices and close at 4 PM on Saturdays and 2 PM on Sundays.
