Barona is probably the nicest casino in San Diego for overall atmosphere. While it is mostly well run, I have experienced more serious inconveniences due to poor management here than in dozens of other casinos combined. Some examples: --was shorted $400 at the cashier's window. To their credit, they did eventually give it to me. However, I had to wait for over an hour to get it. --have waited for as much as 3 hours for a seat in the poker room, amidst assurances that I was next up --had a waitress spill someone's cocktail in my lap while playing blackjack.On the brighter side, as a previous reviewer pointed out, the blackjack rules here are exceptional. Indeed, Barona wants to be a legend among blackjack players, complete with the Blackjack Hall of Fame.For a typical casino patron (who doesn't care about gaming problems like those I described), Barona is a relatively attractive and convenient option. As it is dry, it is even an option for the 18-20 crowd. However, serious players should look to better managed facilities.
