Thrifty Car Rental, located at San Diego Airport, offers many great deals for customers in need of a temporary ride. Their best deal might be the $29.99 price they charge for any daily rental of a compact car.
The name of the business says it all. This is one of the places to go when you're on a budget, which actually means this is the place I always go to since I’m ALWAYS on a budget. They offer much cheaper rates. Its no-frills service, while good, could be made even better though.

Only 18 for a mid-sized car, offered me upgrade to convertible (passed). Check in was quick, polite (must be San Diego thing as everyone was nice in the city) and car was spotless (no sand). In rental car row right off freeway.
I had a reservation with this Thrifty that was suppose to run from Nov till Apr. They tell me up-front that they will only rent the car 28 days at a time. For me to return the car every 28 days. No problem. I pay for the car and head to my apartment where I will be staying. To pay for the apartment I hand the lady my government credit card and she say declined. I'm surprise. I've never used the card and I have a 10k limit. I call my travel and they tell me Thrifty put a $8700.00 hold on my card. I said no, I sign for $800 and change. But they did. They charged my $800 and change, put an $8700.00 hold on my card, but they fixed it. Today the 28th day, I return the car to pick up a new car and they say “we have nothing in the system for you.” No problem I say. I'll just rent one but rent it to me under the government rate. They say I can’t do that. I can only go by what’s on my chart. So being that our travel is close, I rent one under the walk up rate for a couple of days. In return charging me taxes I shouldn’t be paying under government orders. This is what I call piss poor business.
